This exercise is used to work the triceps muscle. Lying Dumbell Triceps Extentions are also known as french curl.

 

Before the exercise

  • This exercise is performed on a flat bench.
  • You need to find an appropriate dumbbell for the exercise.
  • Hold the dumbbell with both hands, palms facing up.
  • Lay on your back on the bench with your head at the end of the bench.
 

The exercise

  • Lay on the bench with the dumbbell securely in your hands, slightly resting on the chest.
  • Extend your arms (with a slight bent) to lift the dumbbell over your chest.
  • Slowly lower the dumbbell behind your head.
  • Raise the dumbbell back over your chest in a controlled movement.
  • Keep your upper arms in a fixed vertical position throughout the exercise.
  • Repeat the exercise.



Tips & Tricks

  • This exercise can be performed with both arms, or with one arm at the time.

  • Keep your elbows tucked in to the side while performing this exercise. Otherwise you will not get any effect on the triceps out of this exercise (because your shoulders will take over).
